PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Today, Monday, July 21, 2014 NV GEBE Managing Director Romelio Maduro and Fred Cuvalay of STUCO, the latter, St. Eustatius utility company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration in the area of Geothermal Power Production.

A feasibility study and business case.  This collaboration is between four partners NV GEBE, TNO (Netherlands Technical Research Organization), SEC (Saba Electrical Company) and STUCO.

NV GEBE and STUCO were the last two to sign the MOU as SEC and TNO have already signed.

TNO will be working with Dutch Government on this project and the latter will be funding it.

The four Parliaments of the Kingdom (Curacao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands) agreed in early June 2014 to pursue geothermal research into the potential of this energy source to serve the peoples of Saba, St. Eustatius and Sint Maarten.
